Training Centre & Premium Kayak Hire
Our Training & Hire Centre is conveniently located right on the beach at 37 Jetty Rd, Sandringham, 30 minutes drive south of the Melbourne CBD, or a short scenic walk from Hampton Station. Sandringham Harbour is a great venue to learn the fundamentals of sea kayaking and is a good base for hiring kayaks to explore Port Phillip Bay. If you are new to kayaking or wondering how you might take it up, come down to the centre and have a chat with our friendly staff.

OFF Season Kayak Hire @ 37 Jetty rd, Sandringham
Every Saturday 9-12am in May, June, July, August we offer Kayak Hire at our Sandringham location, 37 Jetty Road.
You are welcomed to visit us at this time to hire a kayak. Limits do apply so if you would like to book, give us a call on

We will match a craft to your skills and ability to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Where the hire period is longer than a day, a booking deposit will be taken prior to collection of the craft as confirmation of hire. This will amount to the total hire fee to be charged.
Sea Kayak hire will be plastic sea kayaks (Current Designs Storm GT) except for Mirage Sea Kayak test paddles (fee applies but can be deducted off price of new Mirage up to $100). In order to hire sea kayaks you should have undertaken training with us and be able to self-rescue.
Multi-day hiring specials are available for participants in the Massive Murray Paddle and the Sale to Sea Disability Challenge. Contact us to discuss our special rates for these events.

KAYAK TRAILER
A kayak trailer with the capacity to carry 10 double sea kayaks is also available to hire. Call for pricing.
All craft and gear is maintained at a suitable and safe standard. Customers accept that craft and gear be returned in the same condition. Proof of identity must be produced prior to hire. The onus is on the hirer to prove proficiency.
Liability Deposit
Where hire is longer than a day or off-site, a liability deposit of $300 per craft is required and must be paid upon collection. Payments will be accepted in cash, eftpos or credit card. All payments must be made in full before gear is taken. The onus is on the hirer to treat all craft and accessories with respect and responsibility. Damage and/or loss of goods will be assessed upon return and the appropriate amount deducted from the deposit monies. Should the equipment not be returned due to loss or sustain severe damage the hirer must pay full replacement costs.

Purchase a new kayak
Hiring before you buy makes a lot of sense. Our centre is right on the water so you may try as many boats as you like before you make that important purchase.
The adjacent harbour is protected from the southerly winds by Sandringham Breakwater and offers good paddling year round. To ensure the conditions are suitable to your experience level just call the centre for an on the spot weather observation. We will match a craft to your skills and ability to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Hire rates up to $100 are refundable upon purchase of any new sea kayaks.
For hire durations of an hour or so the harbour offers interesting paddling amongst the moored boats and piers. For longer hires it is possible to paddle down to Half Moon Bay or St Kilda and return, weather depending.
